FALL
The soldiers of my heart
Have given up the battle
The barricade around my mind
Has been torn down in the struggle
Laid open in the coldest wind
Others look at my bare soul within
Stripped of all the badges I wore
Crippled by the defeating score
The seasons went from summer to fall
I like a tree felt them all
Lush with life in the season anew
Green with hope like the leaves that shimmer
Slowly changin' color with the onset of winter
Falling down as the season changes
A product of the war life wages
Dormant winter
Cold and chill
A spark of life underneath lays still
Strong and alone
Denuded and shrill
The tree and I
Persevere on the hill
Battle scars born to the soul
Survival is the only goal
World around
With blades abound
Wanting always to cut us down
Deeper my roots
Hold onto the soil
As the world above
Is unsure and spoiled
Harboring within the secrets of time
Blades cutting my life and closing my mind
Left laying in the dust of war
A heart with secrets to bear no more
Soon to be covered by the falling leaves
Of love lost forever
In the trees...
